Qualifications
1. An earned master’s degree or higher, in a field of music, from an accredited college or university
2. Vocal and instrumental music ability in working with individuals and groups
3. Music certification and experience within the elementary, middle school or high school level
4. An awareness of relevant technology in their field
5. A strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including speaking, reading, and writing.
Responsibilities
1. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities that lead to the planning, preparation and delivery of instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
2. Utilize a variety of learning materials and resources that meet students' varying needs.
3. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment and utilize relevant technology to support instruction.
4. Observe and evaluate each student's performance; and through the use of class work, homework, tests and assignments maintain accurate and complete records of each student’s progress and development.
5. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
6. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the school.
7. Collaborate willingly with colleagues by participating in all department, school and parent meetings.
8. Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities that reflect current research.
