In our primary school, each class has two homeroom teachers who work together on daily class management, communication with parents, etc. In grades 1-5 the following courses are taught in English with a co-teaching model:
Mathematics, World Geography (Social Studies), Science, and IPC courses.
Cooperative teaching can keep a classroom fresh and active, stimulate a student’s concentration in an all-around way, and increase classroom efficiency greatly.
In first and second grades, homeroom teachers are Chinese and bilingual, proficient in both English and Chinese. They can help students to complete their tasks from kindergarten. The transition of language and understanding from kindergarten to primary school allows students to establish a sense of security and belonging and focuses on cultivating a student’s good learning habits and self-management ability.
In grades 3, 4, and 5, homeroom teachers consist of one native English speaking foreign teacher, and one Chinese teacher with excellent bilingual ability. This allows us to strengthen students’ academic foundation, while also continuing to cultivate their bilingual ability. We are able to help students put knowledge into action through comprehensive application, in order to help them prepare for the challenges of middle school.
